La Scuola Galileiana di Studi Superiori (SGSS) organizza in collaborazione con la Scuola Normale Superiore (SNS) una Scuola Tematica denominata "Modern Trends in Pure and Applied Mathematics". I principali obiettivi formativi della Scuola sono fornire un’introduzione ad argomenti avanzati di Matematica, sia Pura che Applicata, che normalmente non sono oggetto degli insegnamenti curriculari della laurea magistrale. Al termine del corso gli studenti avranno familiarità con alcuni temi centrali nella ricerca in analisi geometrica (fenomeni di rigidità in Geometria Riemanniana ed in Relatività Generale), fisica matematica (limiti su larga scala di interazioni in gas di Bose), sistemi dinamici (biliardi matematici), geometria algebrica (dimensione essenziale).

La scuola si terrà in presenza dal 26 al 30 maggio 2025 presso la sede della SNS a Pisa, per un totale di 28 ore, corrispondenti a 4 Crediti Formativi Universitari (CFU). La scuola tematica prevede la partecipazione di un numero massimo di 30 iscritti; la lingua ufficiale della scuola è l'inglese.

Il corso si compone di 5 giornate ordinarie; oltre alle ore di lezione sono previsti alcuni seminari, più avanzati, ma di ampia visione, sui temi del corso.

Rimborso spese

La copertura di tutte le spese relative agli allievi della SNS e della SGSS selezionati sarà a carico della rispettiva struttura. Gli altri allievi selezionati avranno diritto ad un rimborso delle spese di viaggio (Bi-glietti del treno in seconda classe, acquistato tramite agenzia convenzionata), fino ad un massimo di 200 €, e usufruiranno di vitto e alloggio in strutture identificate dagli organizzatori per il periodo dal 25 al 30 maggio.

The Galilean School of Higher Education and the Scuola Normale Superiore jointly organize a school on “Modern Trends in Pure and Applied Mathematics”. The main objectives of the school are to provide an introduction to advanced topics in Mathematics, both Pure and Applied, that are typically not covered in the curricular teachings of a master's degree program. By the end of the course, students will be familiar with some central themes in research, including geometric analysis (rigidity phenomena in Riemannian Geometry and General Relativity), mathematical physics (large-scale limits of interactions in Bose gases), dynamical systems (mathematical billiards), and algebraic geometry (essential dimension).

The school will take place in the Scuola Normale in Pisa, from the 26th to the 30th of May 2025 for a total of 28 hours (or 4 CFUs). The course is limited to a maximum of 30 positions. The language of the school is English.

The course consists of five regular days; in addition to the lecture hours, there will be several more advanced seminars offering a broad perspective on the course topics.

Reimbursements

All expenses related to students from SNS and SGSS who are selected will be covered by their respective institutions. Other selected students will be entitled to reimbursement of travel expenses (second-class train tickets purchased through the affiliated travel agency), up to a maximum of €200, and will be provided with meals and accommodation in facilities identified by the organizers for the period from May 25 to May 30.
