Five-Year Program

The Admission Notice for the five-year programme at the Galilean School provides the necessary information for interested applicants regarding admission requirements, procedures and examination papers. Applicants are therefore advised to read the Admission Notice carefully.

Admission to the five-year programme at the Galilean School of Higher Studies is reserved for students who, in the 2025/2026 academic year, hold a qualification that grants access to three-year bachelor’s degree programmes leading to a master’s degree programme, or to single-cycle master’s degree programmes at the University of Padua, and who, in the 2026/2027 academic year, enrol in the first year at that University. Candidates who have reached the age of twenty-two by 1 January of the calendar year in which the call for applications is published will not be eligible for selection.

The Galilean School is offering 30 places for the five-year programme for the 2026/2027 academic year, broken down as follows:

8 places for applicants to the first year of the Moral Sciences Class;
14 places for applicants to the first year of the Natural Sciences Class;
8 places for applicants to the first year of the Social Sciences Class.

For all degree programmes with restricted admission, candidates are required to sit and pass the specific entrance examination and to comply with the requirements set out in the relevant admission notice. For other degree programmes falling within one of the three Classes into which the School is organised, and which require a compulsory assessment test, students admitted to the oral examination in the Galilean School’s admissions competition may enrol on these degree programmes without a further test and without any additional academic requirements.

The application for admission to the selection process must be completed online between 12:00 on 29 June 2026 and 12:00 on 31 August 2026. Each candidate may submit only one application and may apply to only one Class. Candidates must indicate in their application for admission to the selection process which written and oral examinations they have chosen.

Once the application has been submitted, it is not possible to change the chosen Class or the specified examination subjects, whether written or oral. In the application form for the selection process, candidates must indicate the degree programme at the University of Padua to which they intend to enrol.

Candidates must proceed with the final confirmation of their application; failure to do so will result in their exclusion from the selection process.

The admission examination for the Class of Moral Sciences consists of two written exams and two oral exams, broken down as follows:

  1. a first written exam in Italian, compulsory for Italian citizens;
  2. a second written exam chosen by the candidate from the following subjects: Greek, Latin, Philosophy, History and Art History.
  3. two oral examinations relating to two subjects chosen by the candidate from Italian, Greek, Latin, Philosophy, History and Art History, at least one of which must be different from those chosen for the written examinations

When applying for admission, candidates must provide the following information:

  1. the subject chosen for the second written examination (or the subjects for both written examinations, if the candidate is a foreign national);
  2. the two subjects chosen for the oral examination (at least one of which must be different from those chosen for the written examinations)

The entrance examination for the Natural Sciences Class consists of two written exams and two oral exams, organised as follows:

  1. a first written exam on scientific knowledge, structured as follows:
    • A series of 10 questions on scientific knowledge, compulsory for all candidates
    • Four sets of 10 questions each in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology; candidates must choose and declare three of these subjects at the time of the exam, answer the questions relating to them, and will be assessed on these answers (together with those from the previous point)
  1. a second written exam chosen by the candidate from the following subjects: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
  2. two oral examinations relating to two subjects chosen by the candidate from those listed in point 2. Where the correspondence table specifies that this is compulsory, candidates must sit one of the two oral examinations in the subject area linked to the degree programme(s) indicated in their application, in accordance with the correspondence table itself.

When applying for admission, the candidate must provide the following information:

  1. the subject chosen for the second written examination (the subjects for the first written examination will be specified at the time of the examination);
  2. the two subjects chosen for the oral examination.

The entrance examination for the Social Sciences Class comprises two written exams and two oral exams. The written exams are divided as follows:

  1. a first written exam on current affairs, focusing on a topic or issue relating to contemporary society
  2. a second written exam, chosen by the candidate from the following subjects: Mathematics, History, Philosophy
  3. Once the written exams have been passed, the candidate will sit two oral interviews, relating to two subjects chosen by the candidate from Economics, Law, Psychology, Political and Sociological Sciences.

In addition, at the end of the second oral exam, candidates will undergo a motivational interview.

When applying for admission, candidates must provide the following information:

  1. the subject chosen for the second written examination;
  2. the two subjects chosen for the oral examination.

The application form for admission to the selection process must be completed between 12:00 on 29 June 2026 and 12:00 on 31 August 2026 via the Uniweb website.

Please take particular care when entering your personal and residential details to ensure correct identification.

Upon completion of the registration process, candidates will receive a username and an activation code to use when logging in to the website uniweb.unipd.it/password. They should then select three security questions and set a password, which will allow them to access the members’ area immediately.

Candidates must then select the class they are interested in and complete the questionnaire.

Once the questionnaire relating to the choice of written and oral subjects has been confirmed, it is no longer possible to amend the details entered. Important: after confirming the questionnaire relating to the exams, you must proceed to the final confirmation of your pre-enrolment application. Failure to provide final confirmation of the application will result in the candidate’s exclusion from the selection process.

Please note:

For the Moral Sciences and Social Sciences streams, particular care must be taken when choosing the subjects for the examinations, in accordance with the selection criteria set out in the Admission Notice.

After the strict deadline of 12:00 on 31 August 2026, the link will be deactivated and it will no longer be possible to complete the application for admission to the selection process.
